California voters did not pass 2012 Proposition 37 that would have required food labeling if Genetically Modified Organism(GMO) ingredients were in the food. There was significant support in some Counties as indicated in the map (below). The map is also available online.
Starting with data from 21,500 Precincts that reported in California’s 58 Counties, this analysis tallied votes into census tracts that roughly correspond to county boundaries. and totaled up to the state level. An algorithm written by Mark was used to calculate total votes by county and yes votes by county and then calculate the percentage of yes votes by county and represent that range by colors on the map.
